Call for papers | Neuroscience and writing, Graphos 1/2024

Adhering to what the latest neuroscientific theories claim about the unity of mind and body inevitably leads to the belief that the regulation of life processes is closely linked to the modulation and expression of the individual's motivational, emotional, and social instances. The inescapable grafting of the neuroscientific dimension onto the pedagogical discipline facilitates the construction of an upgraded educational thought — here addressed to the study of learning-teaching processes and the consequent construction and practice of handwriting in the evolutionary age — as well as the plural potential forms of writing. Among these forms of writing, we must include digital writing, which is now dominant in formal, informal, and non-formal education. Writing must therefore be understood in its communicative narrative, its metacommunicative declination, and as open to a constant dialogue with itself and the world.

This issue of Graphos welcomes contributions on the relationship between recent neurosciences and writing, on the close relationship between the writing hand, the mind, and the brain, and between these latter elements and the construction of individual and collective thought. Contributions may have the following orientations: theoretical-foundational; epistemological-methodological; theoretical-practical; historical-pedagogical and educational; didactic-methodological, with reference to the principles and teaching models of handwriting, and also to the design of plausible teacher training courses. Proposals may also be of an implementation character, with reference to the problems of implementation and management of educational and inclusive interventions in the face of problems encountered in the teaching-learning processes of the handwriting of a theoretical; they may be empirical or experimental, in the perspective of empirical research and reflection on interventions aimed at improving the professionalism of teachers, and refer to the didactic-methodological processes of the written language in parallel with cultural processes.

In addition, as with all the issues, the journal includes a section devoted to general contributions in the broad and pluralistic field of educational sciences.
